Applications for IYWE 2019 will open in the new year.
Applications are invited for Flute / Piccolo, Oboe / Cor Anglais, Bb, Eb and Bass Clarinet, Alto / Tenor / Bari Saxophone, Bassoon & Contra Bassoon, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone, Euphonium, Tuba, Percussion, Harp and Double Bass.
Applicants must be aged between 16 and 25 during the course and have a minimum of Grade 6 standard.
For audition, you will need to prepare two contrasting pieces and expect to sight read. The sight reading level will be similar to that expected at the grade 6 exam. Your audition will not take longer than 10 minutes and it is a feature of this audition that you may be stopped at any time during your performance. If you have applied for more than one instrument you should bring all instruments to the audition. Auditions are unaccompanied.
In 2018, IYWE will again offer the opportunity for selected participants to rehearse and perform a concerto movement(s) with the ensemble (or other work for ensemble and solo player).
Players eligible to apply will be studying music – in their final year of undergraduate or pursuing postgraduate studies.
Players can nominate a concerto or concertos from which they wish to perform. If nominating more than one, please list in order of your preference. Nominated pieces must be available in original scores or arrangements for wind ensemble. It is possible that a suitable new arrangement would be performed by the ensemble but this must be by advance agreement.
Auditions for those wishing to perform a concerto will be 15 minutes in duration instead of 10 minutes without a concerto. Please prepare a movement of one of the proposed works. A piano part must be provided. An accompanist is not necessary but auditionees may provide their own accompanist if they wish. Please inform us beforehand.
The closing date for applications is Friday 23rd March 2018.
